Imagine if every government building, church, and commercial building in Barbados had solar panels on their roofs. Combine this with solar-powered streetlights, and the Barbados Light & Power could then transition from a producer to a purchaser of electricity. This vision begins with a local company capable of producing photovoltaic solar panels, funded through a solar energy fund where anyone can purchase shares.
For the past 50 years, Barbados has been actively producing solar water heating systems. Instead of buying photovoltaic solar panels from China, let’s harness our creativity, intellect, and talent to develop our own. With research, technology, and determination, we can create these solutions locally.
